This
site is an ever expanding endeavor to create a site that draws together
information about sexuality from a wide variety of sources for a wide
variety of people. Sexuality is defined more widely than the physical
act of sex - it includes values, body image, relationships, body function,
law, health, abuse prevention, and more.
SSSLogo
is in the upper left hand corner of every page. It is 4 letter Ss
configured at 90° angles from each other, in other words facing North,
South, East and West. Each S has in a smaller font the rest of the letters
for the word sex, support, site, or Susan's. The logo is dark purple on
a white background.
Home:
The site is devided into three main areas: the home page, Susan's three
pages. and the "ever expanding" links pages.
Sprinkled
throughout are photographs of enormously large granite sculptures of naked
men, women, and children created by Gustav Vigeland that are found in
a statue garden in Oslo, Norway. Susan visited here many years
ago and has never ceased to be in awe of his work. His goal was to create
a statue that represented every temperment and and every stage of life.
( A link to a page with more of these sculptures can be seen and credit
is given to the photographer
below the captioned Vigeland image on the homepage.)
Every
effort has been made to make this site both accessible and usable to people
with disabilities. There will be every attempt to keep the site up-to-date
with new accessibility standards as they emerge.
The home
page has navigation links to other
area of the site at the top under the title, and links to other sites
further below.
The left side under the
header section of the page includes in sections directly below each
other - an introduction to the site, a photo of a Gustav
Vigeland statue, the 4 Ps, and a donation link to
PayPal where checks only are accepted. Further below there is a link
to Susan's chat room and her weblog and below that a counter for
the home page.

4
Ps is
an especially important component. This is Susan's answer
to the fact that so little has been created that is easy-to-read
and
easy-to- remember that helps people make good, reasoned
decisions about their sexual behavior.
The right side of the page
includes directly below each - other sections about the nature
and rules of the Sex Support Forum, the mission statement, an email
link,
and
a courtesy
link to
the source of the Gustav Vigeland photos.
-
Susan's
Sex Support Forum is
the inspiration for this web site. The link in the smaller
right column connects you to a moderated question and answer format.
Questions
are read by Susan before they are posted for the public to read
- and those considered appropriate are posted with answers usually
in
a matter of a few hours.
-
The
email link (below the Mission statement) allows you to
email Susan privately - to ask questions or to make comments
about the site.
Further below across
the bottom are notes on accessibility, a search engine, a guestbook
with a world map, and a password gate. -
The
Password login (at the very bottom of the page) connects to Susan's
two journal copyrighted published articles, and her ongoing attempt
to write
about her son's life. The login name is Susan,
and the password is safersex.
Susan's
pages( links are in the header) are designed to give you a thorough
introduction to Susan.
-
Publications & Presentations list the the presentations she has made and
her recent published journal articles all of which are related to
sexuality and disability.
-
Education & Training lists
all the schools she has attended, and many of the trainings & workshops
she has participated in throughout her life.
-
Employment
lists and describes the voluntary and paid positions she has had
beginning as a teenager.
The
links pages are categorized by a specific area of interest.
When other areas of interest emerge as necessary - Susan will do her best
to add them in new pages.
-
Teen Sexuality tries to explore all
the options available to teenagers - including abstinence, responsible
sexual behavior, teenage pregnancy, teenage parenting, and living
with AIDS.
-
Disability and Sexuality focuses
on addressing the information needs of people with disabilities who
need help to help them understand their own sexuality.
-
Self-Advocacy as
a page may not seem to address sexuality - but
when people are denied their personhood - they are also denied
their sexuality. If you are
a self-advocate, a person with a disability that
hinders your ability to learn and understand - becoming
a
responsible
sexual being includes
far more issues than what may seem obvious on the surface.
-
GLBIT (gay,
lesbian, bisexual, intersexed & transgender) site
page has a variety of resources that address the needs of
people who practice
or are
curious about these identities and lifestyles.
-
Aging
and Sexuality identifies the trials and tribulations encountered
by people as they age and try to remain sexually active. Some articles
address the disabling characteristics that often accompany the aging
process.
-
Professional
Resources includes citations or links to over a thousand
resources. They are categorized by major area of content and
includes
resources
that are either professional or academic in nature and
are generally not geared to a general audience. (The link pages
are more geared to a general audience.)

I am Curious about____ was
created because I noticed words and concepts being misunderstood
over and over again. I try to define each word or concept
very simply, followed by links with more extensive, possibly
(but
not always)
difficult to read material. I tried to find links that
did not in turn link to objectionable material, but when the
topic is
sex that
seems nearly impossible to avoid. Some links do have graphic
illlustrations or photographs.
Resource
$ites includes links to Condoms Express, a company
that sells only condoms and lubrications and no sex toys,
book,
or videos. Ths
makes it legal for minors to visit this site. Amazon.com
is a link to a selection of books that I think are essential
reading
that relate
to sexual concerns. Nth Degree sells t-shirts that
are unlike any you will see elsewhere- the messages are
inspirational
and important
to the disability community. Itsamac
is the host company I use and I recommend it highly for
their excellent customer service and technical support.
